You assume the role of an ordinary person trying to go through their daily routine-such as waking up, going to the bathroom, drinking coffee, watering flowers, checking the mailbox, and heading to work-while facing crazy hazards popping up from nowhere-one moment it's a kitchen cabinet chopping down your hopes and dreams, and the next-it's a death-by-toaster situation! Some of the hazards included are the kitchen cabinet door with murderous intent, an escapee toaster, and even a deadly garden swing. So just complete your daily chores very fast before you get crushed by some accidental hazards standing between the door and yourself.
The gameplay is very simple, yet hard. You use arrow keys or WASD to navigate through different rooms of the house, performing various tasks in order. Every time you perform any action, however, you must think about whether that will trigger a hazard to hit you. Problems can be avoided by moving fast, timing your movements perfectly, and sometimes even using the environment as cover itself. Your score increases as you get through tasks faster, but one mistake will send you back to the start.
As a lighthearted take on the classic "avoid-the-hazards" genre, House of Hazards mixes mundane activities with surreal and comedic challenges. The game was meant to provide a fun-and-stress-relieving environment, turning everyday into extraordinary by adding just a hint of chaos to daily life.
